This is biographical account of the prision ministry of Reverend Noel Proctor beginning with his background as a child growing up in turbluent times in Belfast in the 1930s to the present of 1980s when this book was published I enjoyed this book through the perspective of christian experience and testimony It is easy to read and follow although did appear at times to me that some of conversations recalled by Noel were extended and adlibbed by the author I found there was alot that can be learned from Noel s life in his confrontations with evil, trust, trauma, hardship and moving on in God s will After reading this book I was stunnned in amazement to see the picture and thoughts of Noel Proctor that I had built up in my mind appeare This has to be one of my top 5 books , it tells the story of Noel a Proctor from his childhood in Ireland to his work as a Prison Chaplain , the copy I have is a special Edition so it also features Light through Prison Bars which covers The Strangeways Riots , where Noel was working as a Chaplain The stories in the book if how hardened criminals gave turned their life around through Jesus Christ , is at times hard to believe but they are there in black white Noel s faith is at times tested especially when his wife Norma is ill but it is once again faith that s helps them Such a very emotive book it will definitely be read again.
